WWB LEADers: LEAD, ENRICH, ADVISE, DO--ERS
OUR MISSION
The WWB LEADers are being established to build awareness about the power of microfinance to alleviate global poverty in general and the work of Women's World Banking in particular. WWB is a global network of 54 microfinance institutions and commercial banks operating in 30 countries to bring basic financial services to poor micro-entrepreneurs, especially women. Established in 1979, WWB aims to build a network of strong financial institutions around the world and ensure that the rapidly changing field of microfinance focuses on women as clients, innovators and leaders.
PARTICIPATION
The WWB LEADers seeks as members individuals who would be interested in and committed to the following:
- Engage in learning about microfinance and Women's World Banking by attending events, going on site visits abroad, and/or meeting with program staff.
- Help raise funds through personal influence with other individuals and institutions with a suggested target of $5,000 annually, raised either through personal giving, pro bono services or from others.
- Assist with the WWB Annual Benefit, and work to ensure its fundraising success.
- Be an active, positive ambassador and advocate for WWB.
INVITATION
The first cohort of WWB LEADers conducted a site visit to WWB Network Member ADOPEM in the Dominican Republic in April 2008. The next site visit is being planned for January 2009.
