WWB, Federation of Latin American Banks, and Mexican Bankers Association Hosts Microfinance Seminar for Mexican Bankers
Mexico City, Mexico — Women’s World Banking, the Federation of Latin American Banks (FELABAN), and the Mexican Bankers Association hosted a day-long seminar for close to 100 Mexican bankers on May 17, 2007, in Mexico City, to share strategies for successful bank entry into the Latin American microfinance sector. The event was also sponsored by the Inter-American Development BankMultilateral Investment Fund (IADB-MIF) and Andean Finance Corporation (CAF). The program featured distinguished speakers from several major Latin American and Mexican banks as well as microfinance institutions. Opening remarks were given by the event’s local host, Enrique Castillo Sánchez Mejorada, President of the Mexican Banking Association, as well as by Mary Ellen Iskenderian, President and CEO of WWB, and Maricielo Glen de Tobón, Executive Director of FELABAN.
