Women's World Banking is seeking a Relationship Manager for the Middle East/Eastern Europe to join its Network Management team. Women's World Banking ("WWB") is a leading global network of 54 microfinance providers and banks serving 23 million clients in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe. WWB provides technical assistance and access to capacity building, innovations, and capital - all focused on helping WWB's MFI partners grow and drive their mission of serving low income entrepreneurs globally and with a particular focus on poor women. 

The Relationship Manager an accomplished microfinance manager who serves as trusted and valued advisor to approximately five Network Members (NMs) in their region (Middle Eastern/Eastern Europe). The Relationship Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining effective relationships with NMs, assisting them to define their development goals and, to mobilize and integrate resources from WWB and other partners to assist NMs to achieve their goals. The Relationship Manager spends approximately 50% to 60% of her/his time in the field with their designated NMs. Relationship Manager will work closely with Network Members to understand their needs, jointly develop change agendas, mobilize necessary product and service resources, and manage integrated change processes. Relationship Managers are strong microfinance generalists with the ability to integrate an understanding of microfinance operations and organizations; financial performance, policy context, and competitive environment to the local Network Members' needs. 

The incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining a deep understanding of the operations, products and services, structure and financial performance of each NM organization and identify related issues in each area that are affecting their performance.
  • Facilitating the NM's strategic planning process to analyze their organization and to set strategic direction. Providing recommendations as appropriate drawing on diagnosis and understanding of critical strategic, operational and financial issues.
  • Assisting NM to develop operational plans that will help them to attain their strategic objectives.
  • Developing joint targeted work plans with measurable results informed by a thorough analysis of NM market, financial and operational results.
  • Maintaining historical and current knowledge of the competitive environment of the NM including competitors, the microfinance and banking industry, and policy environment and establish close relationships with the financial and governmental leaders in each country.
  • Monitoring the satisfaction of the NM with WWB inputs and their performance results.
  • Continually assessing NM future service needs.
  • Contributing to the body of WWB knowledge through the development and publication of toolkits (individual lending, savings, credit scoring, insurance), based upon the synthesis of NM experiences and learning that can be used to improve an organization's operations within the WWB network and the wider microfinance industry.
  • Formulating WWB's strategic approach to the region and indentifying potential financial institution candidates for inclusion in the WWB global network.

Education / Experience

The successful candidate will have college degree (relevant field) or equivalent experience; may have an advanced degree (relevant field) or equivalent experience. 5 - 7 years of related experience. Language Skills - Fluency in English and French and any additional languages to assist their NM's.
