Uganda Finance Trust Ltd. (Finance Trust) was registered on 24th March 2004 as a company limited by shares for the purpose of operating microfinance business as defined in the Microfinance Deposit-taking Institutions (MDI) Act 2003. The company is licensed and regulated by Bank of Uganda as a Micro Deposit Taking Institution (MDI). Prior to March 2004 the organization provided microfinance services as an NGO, Uganda Women’s Finance Trust (UWFT), which had been in operation since 1984.
