November 2009 - Women's World Banking (WWB) is a global network of 40 microfinance institutions (MFIs) working in 28 countries to bring financial services and information to poor entrepreneurs, especially women. The network serves 20 million micro-entrepreneurs, over 70% of whom are women. WWB works closely with its network of MFIs, providing them with advisory services to expand their client outreach, strengthen their organization, and create products that reach poor women entrepreneurs in urban and rural areas.
Training materials and learning exercises on Interest Rate and Liquidity Risk Management for MFIs are the newest addition to the Resource Library of the Microfinance Management Institute (MFMI). Developed by Citi in collaboration with Women's World Banking, and donated to the MFMI, the materials enable trainers around the world to access quality materials on two key areas of risk management practice. The materials and exercises are available to users free of charge. Read full story.
Citigroup and WWB will partner with the Association of Microfinance Institutions of Uganda (AMFIU) to deliver a workshop in Kampala, Uganda, on financial risk management for microfinance institutions (MFIs). The workshop – the first in Africa to be delivered through the Citi/WWB partnership – will be held from April 11-13, 2007, and will help East African MFIs develop clear financial risk management strategies and systems, so that they can protect and sustain profitability, and gain increased access to capital to fuel their institutional growth and client outreach.
